Hello loves! This year we shot the MIKUTA spring collection in South Africa. We started in Cape Town and ended the trip on a safari.
South Africa has been on our list for a while. It's a country full of contrasts, colors, and raw beauty, especially in Cape Town, where where the mountains meet the ocean. The city feels relaxed, yet full of energy and creativity. From there we headed up to the north to explore the wild side of the country - open landscapes, early morning game drives, and animals roaming free.
It was the perfect backdrop to slow down, get inspired, and capture the spirit of the collection.
Follow along on our journey to get some travel tips and an inside look at our favorite places on the African coast.
During our trip to Cape Town, we stayed in Gardens. It's central and super easy to get around from there. The neighborhood has a laid-back vibe with cute cafés, restaurants and little boutiques tucked between the old houses. It’s close to everything - Table Mountain is behind you, Signal Hill for sunset is just a stone's throw away, Kloof Street is around the corner with tons of restaurants and bars, and you can be at Clifton's beaches and Camps Bay in 10-15 minutes by car. It's local, calm, and still right in the middle of it all.
Some of our favorite spots nearby were The Power And The Glory for the best ice coffee and breakfast, (also fun in the evenings), Kloof Street House for dinner in the dreamiest garden setting, and Yours Truly on Kloof which has good coffee, good food and also comes alive in the evenings.

One day we made a little road trip to discover new places in the area. We started driving from Cape Town and headed south toward Muizenberg - it's about 30 minutes from the city, known for its long beach, surf scene, and those iconic colorful beach huts. We had a coffee and watched the surfers before hitting the road again.
Next stop was Kalk Bay, just a few minutes away. We checked out some cute vintage shops, wandered through the little streets, and had fresh fish and chips at Kalky’s next to the sea lions chilling by the harbor.
From there, we continued down the coast to Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town to visit the penguins. They are African penguins, and this place is one of the only places in the world where you can see them up close in the wild. They settled there in the early '80s and now live there on their own private beach.
After that we passed through Noordhoek - a quiet, incredibly beautiful and natural wide-open beach town. We walked along the beach and took some pictures until it was time to head back to Cape Town again.
To get back to Cape Town we drove Chapman’s Peak Drive just in time for sunset. The view is incredible along the mountains - a must do when visiting the city!

Cape Town sunsets are something else. The whole city slows down watching how the sky turns from pink to deep orange while the clouds fall over the Twelve Apostles mountain range. Our favorite sunset spots are The Rock where you can see the panoramic view at the end of Ocean View Drive in Fresnaye up by the mountain. Signal Hill, where you can sit and enjoy the sunset next to the trees and beautiful nature. Clifton beaches if you want to chill on the beach by sunset and of course Lion's Head if you're up for a hike!

One of our favorite beaches was Llandudno. It’s calmer than the city beaches, just past Camps Bay, with soft white sand, giant boulders, no shops or cafés - just nature. The water is cold but super refreshing, and it's a great place for surfing. We spent hours there, just chilling in the sun and staying for one of the most beautiful sunsets we saw on the trip.

By the end of the trip we flew north for a few days for a safari by Houtsprout. It was a totally different scene, right in the bush, quiet, open, peaceful. We stayed in a small camp with just a few tents, super simple and beautiful, right in the middle of nature.
Mornings started early by 5am for coffee and game drives through the reserve while the sun came up. We saw elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes… just doing their thing. It never felt rushed, just calm and surreal.
The days were slow. We enjoyed lunch at the camp and lounging in our beautiful tent in the afternoon. And by 5pm we went on another game drive for sunset and saw even more wild animals with the sounds of the bush all around us.
It was such a peaceful few days - offline, grounded, and totally present. Incredibly beautiful, special and unforgettable.

After the safari, we flew back to Cape Town for a few days to soak up the sunshine before heading home. It was the perfect way to end the trip - full circle, back where it started, but with memories to last a lifetime. South Africa left us inspired and in love. We’ll definitely be back.
Lots of love xx Jacqueline
