MIKUTA is committed to crafting essentials that stand test of time. From care techniques to quality-retention storage solutions, here are our tips and tricks for maintaining the longevity and uniqueness of your pieces for years to come.

COTTON

  • Machine wash max 30°C
  • Pre-treat stains before washing
  • Hang dry whenever possible

LINEN

  • Hand wash or machine washing at max 30°C
  • Minimize washes to reduce discoloration with colored linen pieces
  • Hand dry

LEATHER

  • Store leather garments on a hanger, in a cool and dry place, away from heat and direct light
  • Do not wear in rain, snow, or other harsh weather conditions, and avoid exposure to humidity or sweat, as leather is not water resistant
  • If the garment becomes wet, allow it to dry naturally at room temperature. Never use a dryer or apply heat, and never rub a wet garment
  • Keep away from perfumes, deodorants, cosmetics, solvents, and oils, which may cause permanent damage
  • Prevent scratching or rubbing against rough surfaces, as these marks may not be repairable
  • Be aware that leather may transfer color onto lighter garments or surfaces, especially in humid conditions
  • Only professional leather cleaning is suitable. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Note that color may vary slightly after cleaning

Disclaimer: Damage resulting from improper use, unsuitable storage conditions, or failure to follow the recommended care instructions cannot be considered defects

KNITWEAR

Wool:

  • Wash as infrequently as possible
  • Hand wash in cold water only
  • Allow wool garments to rest between wears
  • Proper airtight storage is key when they’re not in use
  • Lay flat to dry, preferably on a towel, to maintain the garment's natural shape

SEQUINS, SPARKLES AND GLITTER

  • Hand wash only inside-out
  • Allow some time between washes for garment to rest and refresh
  • Hang dry or lay flat to dry naturally

DENIM

  • Machine wash max 40°C
  • Space out washes as long as possible
  • Wash denim garments inside-out and choose a delicate cycle to prevent fading

STERLING SILVER

  • Avoiding wearing sterling silver jewelry while showering, washing your hands, or exercising.
  • Do not store in overly humid environments
  • Always store your silver jewelry in a soft airtight bag or container

STAINLESS STEEL

  • Clean with a standard soft microfiber cloth
  • Special polishing tissues should NOT be used on any brushed items
  • The most important thing is to prevent contact with cosmetics (body lotion, sprays/perfumes, etc.)
  • Do not expose to salt or chlorine water for extended periods of time, for example, while swimming. Typically stainless steel is very robust but salt water or chlorine water might damage it over time

cotton

Soft, comfortable, and cozy, cotton is an essential material at MIKUTA. Its ease of care makes it perfect for everyday wear, allowing you to enjoy your favorite pieces time and time again. However, to keep your cotton items in top condition, it’s important to know how to care for them properly. Machine wash your cotton at 30°C, ensuring a gentle clean without compromising quality. Our ♥ tips: Whenever possible, opt for natural drying instead of tumble drying to preserve the fabric's softness and integrity.

linen

The breathability and moisture-wicking qualities of linen make it an excellent fabric to wear in humid weather or during summer days by the water. But the natural fiber requires a bit of special care. For optimal maintenance, we recommend hand washing or machine washing at a maximum of 30°C to ensure your linen stays in great condition and minimizes the need for ironing. Our ♥ tips: Hang your linen pieces to dry for a naturally relaxed look with minimal wrinkles and effortless charm.

LEATHER

Leather deserves special attention and care, and when well-maintained, garments can become lifelong companions. Pay attention to how leather ages, as it develops a beautiful patina over time, softening and enhancing its character. Our leather garments are made from natural materials, which means each piece is unique. Variations in color, texture, or markings are elevated characteristics of vegetable tanned leather. Our ♥ tips: Embrace the journey with your leather piece, knowing it will only get better with age. For any leather garment concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to a leather specialist. They can provide the expertise needed to keep your pieces in quality condition for a lifetime.

KNITWEAR

We understand how frustrating it can be to accidentally ruin your knitwear, and we’re here to help! To keep your wool pieces in top condition, wash them as infrequently as possible and allow them to rest between wears. Proper storage is key when they’re not in use. When it’s time to wash your knitwear, handle it gently by hand washing in cold water. Our ♥ tips: After washing, lay your knitwear flat to dry, preferably on a towel, to maintain its natural shape.

SEQUINS, SPARKLES & GLITTERS

Learn how to keep the sparkles shining bright in your favorite glitter clothes with a little extra care. For our linen items with glitter, always opt for hand washing and make sure to wash them inside-out. Allow some time between washes to keep them fresh and fabulous. To preserve the natural shape of the linen, let the glitter pieces dry naturally. Our ♥ tips: Be gentle during the wash, and always turn your glitter items inside-out to ensure the sparkles stay in place.

denim

Denim is not just any wardrobe essential; it's a long-term commitment. To maintain the quality of your favorite jeans, jackets, and jumpsuits, we recommend spacing out the washes as long as possible. Over time, our denim will conform beautifully to your body shape, becoming softer and more comfortable with each wear. Our ♥ tips: Always wash your jeans inside-out and choose a delicate cycle to prevent fading.

precious metal jewelry

STERLING SILVER

Our 925 sterling silver is the foundation of our jewelry collection. To preserve the quality of your silver, we recommend avoiding wearing it while showering, washing your hands, or exercising. Additionally, steer clear of storing your jewelry in overly humid environments. Our ♥ tips: Always store your silver jewelry in a soft airtight bag or container when you're not wearing it to protect it from tarnishing. With these simple steps, your treasured pieces will shine bright for years.

STAINLESS STEEL

With proper care, stainless steel jewelry can last for decades in excellent condition. The material is strong, water resistant, and resistant to oxidation, making it a reliable choice for everyday wear. However, we don't recommend extended exposure to salt water or chlorinated water. While stainless steel is very robust, prolonged contact (while swimming for example) may damage it over time. If your jewelry does get dirty, don’t worry! For polished pieces, the best option is to wipe it clean with a soft microfiber cloth. For brushed items, avoid polishing tissues that will soften the original texture. Instead you can easily clean with water, a very soft toothbrush, and a gentle towel. Our ♥ tips: Always be gentle when cleaning your pieces, and make sure to store them with care to maintain their shine and durability. The most important thing is to prevent direct contact with cosmetics (body lotion, sprays/parfum, etc.).
